Our mission is to educate producers and consumers of existing and emerging forms of public communication, and to instill in them the value of freedom of expression, intellectual and cultural diversity, critical thinking, creativity, ethics, professional skills, and social responsibility.
A Bachelor of Arts in Journalism requires the completion of a minor.
Minors require between 15-24 hours (depending on the minor). Courses used to satisfy General Education Requirements may also be used to apply toward a minor. However, courses used to satisfy major requirements may NOT apply toward a minor. Minor requirements will automatically be built into your degree plan allowing a timely graduation date. Successful completion of a minor will be noted on your transcript.
Minors are offered through the Architecture, Arts & Sciences, Fine Arts, Business, Engineering, and Geosciences. The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication offers a Broadcast minor to Meteorology Students only.
A complete list of undergraduate minors is available at the Provost's Web site. You may also download checksheets listing specific minor requirements through this Web site.
The Student Services Center (Gaylord Hall, Room 2533) also has checksheets for some of the more popular minors our students pursue.
Please note: All requirements for a minor must be completed concurrently with your undergraduate degree.
