Campaign for Scholarships
Thousands of new scholarships are available to University of Oklahoma students due to the success of the Campaign for Scholarships, which has raised more than $247 million in total gifts and pledges from alumni and friends. Through the Campaign for Scholarships, which was launched in 2005, OU is ensuring that no qualified, hard-working student is ever turned away from our university because of financial need. The University's focus on endowed scholarship funds will ensure that future generations of our students receive the support they need to attend OU. Help OU reach its goal of $250 million by making a gift for scholarships today.
Options for Making Your Scholarship Gift
Annual: With an annual contribution, donors make a gift to support a student directly.
Endowed: Scholarship endowments can be established with a gift of at least $15,000 and create enduring scholarship support, with only the earnings expended each year, leaving the principal intact.
Deferred: Deferred gifts are made as part of an estate plan, involving a will, charitable remainder trust, or life insurance gift. Deferred scholarship gifts are most typically set up as endowments.
Unrestricted gifts: These gifts can be used for the needs of the highest priority as determined by OU.
Designated gifts: Donors specify through what department or area the scholarship is awarded, and whether the award is based on need or merit.
Scholarship recipients: Often donors consider the obligation of the student in determining the scholarship level (resident, non-resident students, graduate students, students working toward professional degrees). Scholarships can be established on a one-year basis or they can be set up to assist a student over a four-year or five-year period.
