At OU, You Will Get Individualized Attention

Advising

OU’s unique University College is set up to serve first-year students by offering one-to-one advising, free tutoring, a writing center, Gateway to College Learning classes, freshmen seminars and career exploration sessions - all in one place. Freshmen are part of University College until the completion of 24 credit hours and then are transferred into the degree-granting college of their choice, so it is okay if you are many other first-year students who are undecided about a major. Small Classes

With an average class size just under 32, the University of Oklahoma provides a major university experience in a private college atmosphere. OU is one of the few public universities in the nation to cap the class size of first-year English composition courses at no more than 19. OU also boasts a 18:1 student to faculty ratio, which ensures your student will get the personal attention he or she deserves.

Community

There is a true sense of family on the OU campus. Serving as a model for other public universities, OU established the Faculty-In-Residence program which places faculty members and their families in each of our residence halls to foster interaction and encourage intergenerational friendships. These and other student-centered efforts helped OU earn recognition from the Templeton Foundation as a “Character Building College” – not once but twice.
