Faculty and Staff

Faculty and Staff

As faculty and staff, you are in position to directly affect students' success and experience at OU. Research shows that students making a connection with faculty and staff early in their college experience (within 6 weeks) is crucial to persistence. The Graduation Office offers several opportunities for faculty and staff to influence persistence. Please view some of the initiatives below aimed at increasing student success at OU and learn more about how you can impact student success and thus the success of OU.

OU Cares

OU Cares is an initiative aimed at helping students overcome barriers to their success at OU. Students work one-on-one with one of our staff to create an action plan to address the issue(s) impeding their success. Students should contact OU Cares with any issue they feel is getting in the way of their ability to create success at OU. These issues may include but most definitely are not limited to the following.

  • Choosing a Major
  • Improving GPA
  • Improving Study Skills
  • Homesickness
  • Financial Concerns
  • Planning for Graduation

Faculty and staff members may also refer a student to OU Cares and our staff will reach out to that student via e-mail (oucares@ou.edu) and/or phone (405) 325-0841. Faculty/Staff refer a student here.

Contact OU Cares today and get the help you need to succeed!

OU Cares Student Survey

The OU Cares Survey is administered to freshmen during the 3rd-6th weeks of classes. Faculty and staff with access to review their students' survey results may do so by clicking here.

Residence Hall House Calls

Each year, faculty and staff reach out to our students living in the Residence Halls by making house calls. Residence Hall House Calls take place early in the fall semester between the 2nd and 5th weeks of the semester. Faculty and staff pair up and knock on doors in the Residence Halls to meet students where they live, learn more about their experience so far at OU and offer assistance in various areas. The University of Oklahoma truly is a family and we want students to know that there are many people sincerely interested and invested in our students success and happiness at The University of Oklahoma.

Mark your calendars! The next Residence Hall House Calls will take place on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

Faculty/Staff - sign up to participate in Residence Hall House Calls by contacting Lori Stevens at (405)325-3467 or via e-mail at lorilee@ou.edu.
