The Laurence S. Youngblood Energy Library, which is part of the University of Oklahoma Libraries system, is located in the Sarkeys Energy Center building and is as an outstanding resource for energy education and research for the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy
Mrs. Laurence S. Youngblood, a longtime OU supporter and a pioneer for women in the oil industry, made significant contributions to support the construction of the Laurence S. Youngblood Energy Library, named in honor and memory of her husband. Today, the Laurence S. Youngblood Energy Library is recognized as one of the top five geology libraries in the nation. It contains more than 90,000 catalogued volumes and more than 200,000 map sheets.
After her death in June 2007, OU received a major bequest from her estate to ensure that the energy library she established and nurtured will be among the nation’s finest for decades to come.
