The Cross Examination Debate Association will hold its annual policy debate national championship tournament March 23 through 26 on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus. This is the second time in five years that OU has hosted the tournament. This year’s tournament will bring together more than 320 students from over 60 different colleges and universities to compete for the national championship.

Students compete in teams of two and will debate the resolution selected by the CEDA membership. This year’s debate topic is:

Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially increase its democracy assistance for one or more of the following: Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen.

Founded in 1971, the Cross Examination Debate Association is the primary national association sanctioning and promoting intercollegiate academic policy debate.  Throughout the school year, CEDA sanctions more than 60 tournaments throughout the nation, including the annual National Championship Tournament that brings together over 160 debate teams from across the nation.
