NORMAN – The Hester Hall Renovation project for the College of International Studies, a multi-tenant office facility on the Research Campus, and the L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park and Softball Facility Expansion and Improvements projects, all on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus, are among items to be discussed by the OU Board of Regents at its regular meeting Thursday, May 10, in Norman.
The meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Scholars Room of Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave., with items submitted by Rogers State University and Cameron University and then OU.
The Regents will consider a recommendation to approve the design development phase plans and authorize preparation of construction documents for the Hester Hall Renovation project, which includes exterior building enhancements and renovated space for the College of International Studies. A major new feature will be the addition on the west façade of the three-story element. The addition will become the front door of the college and will house a two-story lobby, elevator and open stair. Two new stair towers will be constructed to improve building circulation and enhance emergency egress. The three-story element of the building will be renovated to house the dean’s and staff offices and a quiet study area on the first floor; faculty offices and small conference and seminar rooms are planned on the second and third floors. The one-story element will house International Student Services and Education Abroad as well as three classrooms, a seminar room, a formal conference room and the college’s living room.
Also Thursday, the OU Regents will discuss a proposal to approve the design development phase plans and authorize construction documents for the Multi-Tenant Office Facility No. 5, or Five Partners Place, project, which will provide approximately 100,000 square feet of space, including general office space, for university research programs and space that may be leased to entities wishing to locate at the Research Campus. The building will be located on the northeast corner of Stephenson Parkway and Lawrence Avenue, just east of the Stephenson Life Sciences Research Center.
The Regents also will talk about the firms under consideration to provide construction management services for the L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park and Softball Facility Expansion and Improvement projects, which targets spectator seating, fan amenities and team facilities.
The next meeting of the OU Board of Regents is currently scheduled for June 25 through 27 in Ardmore.
