OU Board of Regents to Meet in Norman May 8

NORMAN — Renovation of the Will Rogers Room in the Oklahoma Memorial Union and new broadcast equipment for the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication are among topics to be discussed by the OU Board of Regents at its regular meeting Thursday, May 8, in Norman.

The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Scholars Room of Oklahoma Memorial Union with items submitted by Rogers State University and Cameron University, followed by those submitted by OU.

The board will consider a recommendation to authorize renovations to the Will Rogers Room in the Oklahoma Memorial Union, which is heavily utilized by thousands of OU students, faculty, staff and visitors on a daily basis. The improvements would include replacement of worn flooring, updated ceiling and the addition of wall paneling to match the adjacent Clarke-Anderson Room. The heating and air conditioning equipment would also be updated.

The Regents also will discuss a proposal for the purchase of broadcast equipment for the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The college operates OUTV, which currently uses standard definition equipment and assets that are in need of replacement with updated higher definition equipment. Since Gaylord Hall opened in 2004, new high definition technology has been developed and can be utilized to create high quality media products for the television station for current and future students.

The next regular meeting of the OU Board of Regents is currently scheduled for June 23 to 25 in Ardmore.
