Recycle Like a Champion

Eco-Friendly Printing Standards at OU

OU Printing Services recently converted to a process-free lithographic plate where there are no chemicals or water washes discharged into the waste stream. Previously pre-press films and plates required significant filtering of waste to remove silver and other harmful chemicals before disposal.  Now our pre-press waste stream is at zero discharge. OU is leading the way with this technology, with one of very few printers in Oklahoma using a process-free lithographic plate.

University printing inks now emit zero volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) into the air.  For the past decade, all printing inks have been certified soy-based formulas. In addition, the use of recycled paper continues to be a preferred practice for OU Printing Services.  Official University stationary is printed on recycled paper.
