Standing Committees
Academic Affairs
This committee deals with the concerns of students that are related to academics. This can range from what classes are offered on campus, to how the university deals with academic misconduct (cheating).
Congressional Administration
This committee deals with subjects that are internal to UOSA. This includes appointing new members to Congress, organizing the UOSA elections process, regulating the Bylaws, and changing the constitution. This committee has to deal with complicated rules and bureaucratic processes more than any other committee.
External Affairs
This committee is a liaison between the city of Norman and the students of OU. They deal with any issue that isn’t based here on campus. These issues can range from registering voters, talking to the city council, and dealing with traffic problems. EA is heavily involved in planning and executing Higher Ed Day at the State Capitol every spring.
Special Committees
Green Week Committee
Green Week is a week-long exploration of the opportunities that exist in Norman and elsewhere for renewable and sustainable modes of living. If you are intersted in applying, see the Resources Page for the application.
Public Relations
The PR committee ensures a good public image of Congress. Their role also helps advocate our positions in a dynamic way.
Problems and Projects
This committee is where most of the big projects go. This committee deals with any issue here on campus. In the past it has addressed concerns such as parking, meal plans, and housing.
Ways and Means
This is the budgetary committee. It is both the most important and the most time demanding. It is responsible for allocating more than $700,000 among the clubs and organizations here on campus. They interview all the clubs during the budgetary process, and deal with any legislation related to the budgetary process.
