The Regents’ Fund consists of individual funds established by the receipt of a gift, bequest, or donation to the University of Oklahoma. A new department is established for the gift, bequest, or donation. Expenditures are processed against the department in accordance with any related donor restrictions. The Regents’ Fund allows the department receiving the gift, bequest, or donation to invest the funds, thereby increasing the value of the gift, bequest, or donation.
New departments are invested in one of two investment pools depending on the donor restrictions. Endowed funds are invested in long-term investments held in the Consolidated Investment Fund (CIF). Non-endowed funds are invested in short-term investments held in the Short Term Investment Fund (STIF).
