Director of Academic Assessment, University of Oklahoma – Norman Campus

The University of Oklahoma invites applications and nominations for a newly created position of Director of Academic Assessment.  The Director will have primary responsibility for conducting assessment of student learning outcomes, and supporting the continuous improvement of learning outcomes by embedding assessment data within Academic Program Review.  The Director participates in the campus wide Assessment Steering committee chaired by the Senior Vice President & Provost and will work closely with designated contacts within Institutional Research & Reporting, the student data system, the faculty Academic Program Council, Academic Program Review, and the course evaluation system.  In collaboration with the Center for Teaching Excellence, the Director will co-ordinate workshops and training on learning outcomes assessment to all academic units and provide additional support to academic units identified as needing improvement in their assessment of learning outcomes.

Applicants should possess an earned doctoral degree in a social science or educational field and have extensive knowledge of social science theory and research in testing and measurement practices within a higher educational setting and at least 5 years experience within the specific domain of student learning assessment.  Applicants must have outstanding written and oral communication skills and must be able to work in a collaborative environment. The preferred qualifications include strong technical skills with quantitative software including Cognos, Banner, and standard social science packages such as SPSS or SAS are highly desirable and a history of research publications and/or externally funded research on the topic of learning outcomes is highly desirable.

Instructional Content and Copyright Researcher (Student) – Norman Campus

Deadline Date: Until filled
Starting date: Spring Semester 2013

Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Content Researcher will work closely with the CTE Academic Technology Consultant and will be responsible for finding and evaluating low cost or open-source instructional materials across various disciplines. This position will also work closely with OU Libraries on copyright research for instructional content.

Required Skills and Proficiencies:
Knowledge of copyright, open-source, fair use policies. Proficient with Apple and/or PC computers, iPads and other tablet devices. Familiarity with Dropbox and project management tools. Knowledge of iBooks Author and ITunes U a plus. Must be sophomore or higher standing.
