Dr. Maria del Guadalupe Davidson named a 2012 Donald H. Wulff Travel Fellow

Dr. Maria del Guadalupe Davidson was named a 2012 Donald H. Wulff Travel Fellow. The fellowship allowed her to attend the Professional and Organizational Development in Higher Education Conference in Seattle, Washington (October 24-27 2012).

As a fellow, Dr. Davidson was asked to present on an issue related to diversity and to describe her work in the area of diversity at her home institution. Dr. Davidson focused on the importance of expanding the definition of diversity to include factors such as socio-economic background, disability, and country of origin.

One project that Dr. Davidson is organizing is a series of “Diversity Brown Bag Discussions” to be held at the Center for Teaching and Learning in the spring of 2013. Various members of the OU community will facilitate the discussions. Topics for the sessions include:

  • Increasing Student Diversity
  • Diversity and Disability
  • Diversity and LGBTQ Issues
  • Cohort Learning Communities and Diversity
  • Diversity Initiatives in Specific Disciplines
  • Teaching about race, gender, and class
  • Diversity and First Generation Students
  • Retaining Minority Faculty
  • University Policy and Diversity
  • Diversity and Student Services
  • Working with International Students
  • STEM Research and Diversity
  • Diversity and the Arts
In the spring of 2013, Dr. Davidson will be Assistant Professor of Business Communication in the Price School of Business, Division of Marketing and Supply Chain Management. Dr. Davidson has also been named the co-Director of the Women and Gender Studies’ Center for Social Justice.
