This workshop provides the philosophy and best-practice techniques for staff that work with the older adolescent in out-of-home placement. Components of the Oklahoma Independent Living Program are presented and the guiding policies reviewed. Participants learn to access the available resources in order to maximize the short time we have to prepare our youth for self-sufficiency. A former foster youth shares his experience in the foster care system.
