This training will include: helping workers understand what “mental health is, why controversy surrounds the diagnosis, and factors contributing to the increasing number;   discussion of the role of fathers and the effects of mentally ill parents; common types of mental illness seen in kids and the symptoms kids present.  In addition, the training will include consideration of how separation from parent affects children and how foster placement affects children; treatment and the roles of medication and discipline.  Finally, the training will include discussion of how mental health in children affects parents and siblings, obstacles to care, and ways workers can help.
