With the prevalence of parents with substance abuse issues in the child welfare system, CPS worker are often faced with the daunting task of identifying signs of alcohol and drug abuse in the home, as well as determining how this effects the children involved. In this workshop, participants will be actively engaged in understanding and sharpening their skills at what involved in assessment, treatment and relapse prevention for substance abuse, as well as how best to support their adults and their children. Through deepened knowledge and skills regarding substance abuse issues, you will become better equipped to communicate with treatment providers and support parents through relapse.
