This diligent search training was developed to help Child Welfare staff locate parents, relatives, and other people relevant to their cases. With the number of children in OKDHS custody continuing to rise, there is an increased need to find appropriate relative or kinship placements for children. Absent or non-custodial parents may be suitable placements for children who have been removed from their custodial parents. The training will be hands on, where participants will do searches on the computer. Due to the limited number of computers available, the workshop will be limited to 20 participants. Please be sure that you are able to log into IMS before coming to the workshop. The search techniques will progress from low tech to high tech, following the methods outlined in the revised Child Welfare Search Guide. Participants are encouraged to bring names of people that they want to try to locate.
