This training will define and explore Intentional Visitation practices within Child Welfare. The focus will be on developing visitation plans with families that are planned, purposeful and progressive; and are based on the developmental level of the child(ren) and skill level of the parent. Staff will understand basic child development, attachment/bonding, the impact separation has on children, and best practice that should be used when developing visitation plans. Participants will learn / practice four steps in developing visitation plans that are planned, purposeful and progressive; and will understand how Intentional Visitation allows parents to demonstrate/practice changes in their behaviors that led to their children being unsafe.
Each training session is two days. The September 7 & 2, 2011 and the September 14 & October 5, 2011 are for Area III Supervisors. |
