Course Levels

CORE Training consists of four weeks of classroom training and two weeks of on-the-job training that covers foundation level knowledge, skill competencies and Child Welfare policy. Before attending CORE, New Social Workers will need to have four weeks in the office and complete the Pre-CORE Enrollment Packet. New Social Workers must attend CORE training no later than six weeks after hire date.

Hands on Testing (H.O.T.) - Following CORE Training. This one day Testing will be held from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day. Workers must pass All 4 areas of H.O.T. before they can carry a caseload. Once they pass H.O.T., they will be able to begin the graduated caseload assignment as established by the Pinnacle Plan Point 3 as outlined in the Supervisors and Mentors Guide.

Workers in specialized tracks must complete Level II training within 36 months of their CORE graduation date. Workers who have not finished their Level II requirements by July 1, 2005 are required to take the new classes listed on the Level II page. With supervisory approval, workers may enroll themselves in these workshops listed under Training Tracks on KIDS.
