Reaching Your Audience:
Matching Media Channels to Target Audience

INTERNET

ADVANTAGES
- 92 million Americans currently use the internet
- An average day (27 February, 2000) saw 26 million Americans access the net, spending an average of 33 minutes on-line while visiting 4 sites
- Technology allows a measurement of exactly how many people saw the message
- An Internet site allows for easy changes to messages. Internet experts even suggest that sites continually change to keep them fresh
- There continues to be a steady influx of new computer owners that are accessing the Internet. This sense of novelty and wonder will persist for some time before Web surfing becomes an experience that is taken for granted

DISADVANTAGES
- Internet sites sometimes plagued by painfully slow loading times or outright crashes. Users are turned off by the time it takes to download graphic-heavy pages.
- The Internet is filled with hundreds of thousands of Web sites, but the average user "visits" only a few-and revisits only a fraction of those
