Statement of Problem Due
to a strong economy and a great demand for qualified personnel in the
private sector, the recruiting commands of the five services must
continually reevaluate and develop their efforts.
Currently, the military supports motion picture productions through
dedicated public affairs offices located in Los Angeles.
This support has been given in the past to productions that were
deemed to present the armed forces in a positive light.
However, no particular study has been done on the impact of these
productions and thus the effectiveness of this support.
Do movies with a military theme have an influence on individuals to
join the military, regardless of the type of message presented, and if so,
should the military direct more assets to the support of motion pictures?
