Academic Interests: Dr. Wong's research interests are in the areas of health communication, social influence and cognition, and interpersonal communication. Currently, he is interested in pursuing three lines of research: (a) Understanding how people process emotional appeals in public health campaigns and their effects on health cognitions and behaviors, (b) looking at issues related to the framing of health risk and health promotion information and their effects on public opinion of health issues, and (c) examining the impact of program and entertainment context on processing of health-related mass mediated messages.
Additional Information: Dr. Wong has written and presented numerous papers at national and international communication conferences and has had his work appear or been accepted for publication in journals such as Communication Monographs, Health Communication, Personal Relationships, and Journal of Intercultural Communication Research.
