      National Weather Center

Known for its wild, wacky weather… Oklahoma is the logical place for the National Weather Center, and no better home for it than at research-rich OU.  At 244,000-square-feet, it is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the world, and houses 12 OU, state and federal organizations with more than 650 employees, faculty, researchers and students.  Information learned here helps reduce loss of life and property to hazardous weather.

National Weather Center opened its doors in 2006.  It is home to OU's College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences, comprised of the Geography department and the School of Meteorology, which is the largest in the nation and ranked No. 1 in severe storm research.  Together, they contain many diverse and award-winning research, academic and operational components.
