During Your Stay
Where Do You Go First?
New exchange students should come to the Education Abroad Office, Hester Hall Room 150, 729 Elm Avenue, as their first stop on campus.

Please, click here for detailed schedule of Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 events for international students. There is no charge for this.

New Exchange Student Arrival Checklist
This check list is given to all new exchange students to help them get organized during their first few days here.  It lists all the things that must be done related to getting a student identification card, signing your housing contract, attending orientation and other important steps during the week before classes begin.

Email Account
All OU students have an e-mail account assigned to them. Your account is set up when you are enrolled. Computer labs are free and students can use them for the Internet, e-mail, word processing, and other programs. If you have access to a computer at your apartment or dorm, you can also access the internet and e-mail from there at no cost. The computer labs have detailed information sheets that will help you to begin using your e-mail account. You can also ask one of the lab assistants to help you or stop by and see us in the Education Abroad office.

Steps to activate your email account:
1. Go to account.ou.edu
2. Click on “New Users: Activate your account here”. Enter your OU NET ID (4x4). This is the 1st 4 letters of your last name and last 4 numbers of your student ID number.
3. Enter your complete birthday and click submit.
MM/DD/YYYY – month, date and year
4. You will have to answer five questions for security reasons. Click Submit.
5. You will then need to make a password using 3 of the 4 required elements listed.
6. Once this is completed, you will go to exchange.ou.edu and type your 4x4 and password. You will have access to your email account.
