Reeder Named Acting Dean

Reeder Named Acting Dean

Reeder was named to the role in September and will serve through early 2020.

Dear JRCoE Community,

I have greatly enjoyed working as a faculty member in the College of Education for the past 14 years and am looking forward to working with you in the capacity of acting dean for the next few months.

As always, we have tremendous initiatives underway this year in the college on both the Norman and Tulsa campuses that impact our students, children and families in the state, education policy, research and scholarship, and the various communities in which we interact within the state and beyond.

Both Dr. Aiyana Henry and Dr. Curt Adams are working in their new roles as associate deans to support the work of the college around teacher and professional education, graduate student experiences and engagement, and research, while Dr. Vickie Lake continues to provide leadership on the Tulsa campus in her role as associate dean.  We are also in the process of identifying an associate dean for community through an internal search process. All this, and much more, makes me proud to be a part of the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about the college.

Sincerely,
Stacy

A Note From Gregg Garn

When Interim President Joe Harroz began in his new role, he outlined priorities for our University designed to propel us forward in the important work of fulfilling our mission. One of those priorities was to focus on extending our academic offerings to more students in Oklahoma and beyond. Most recently, we have seen growth in online graduate programs and now have more than 1,000 students pursuing degrees and certificates who might never step foot on any of our campuses.

Over the past few months, we formed a committee to evaluate the opportunity to increase access to our academic offerings through the creation of OU Global. OU Global would provide high-quality graduate programs to adult learners who seek the benefits of higher education and OU’s outstanding academics, but whose access is challenged by distance and time constraints.

Interim President Harroz has asked me to lead this effort, and as such I have stepped out of the College of Education temporarily to work directly on this project. This limited assignment will allow me to lead in the development of the online component of our vision and strategy that we will provide to the OU Regents by January 17.

We have an amazing strength of leadership in this college, and I have full confidence we will continue to move forward in a positive direction. I will still be a part of the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education community and look forward to seeing you at events.
