Everyone Needs Help Sometimes

Managing the pressures of our daily lives can sometimes be overwhelming. The OU Counseling Psychology Clinic can help. Common problems for our clients are depression, anxiety, stress management, personal relationships, parenting concerns, child management, attention and learning problems, adjustment to medical illness or disability and other personal adjustment and mental health concerns.

Counseling and psychological assessment services are available for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. If you live in Oklahoma, you are eligible for these services. Counseling sessions are scheduled based on an individual’s needs. We see most clients once a week for a 50-minute session.

Counseling involves dedication and hard work. The client must summon the courage to confront problem areas, help the counselor understand his or her life situation by openly discussing concerns, and commit to keeping scheduled appointments. In turn, the counselor listens, understands and uses professional expertise to help the client.

Appreciation of Diversity

The counselors, supervisors and staff of the OU Counseling Psychology Clinic are committed to the understanding and appreciation of human diversity. We hope to offer an environment and counselor-client relationships in which our clients feel supported and may be able to explore and discuss their experiences, beliefs, values and behaviors without judgment or fear. We accept that diversity is part of being human and is related to innumerable possibilities including age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, physical and psychological differences, education, socio-economic status, country or location of origin, language, history and other differences.
