Special Education Master’s Degree Statement of Goals:
Describe your background and interest in special education. Specifically state what concentration of the program you are applying to and why you are the best candidate for this program. Explain why you want to obtain a Master's Degree in Special Education and what professional goals you want to accomplish with this degree. Discuss what you have done that demonstrates your passion to improve special education practices and the quality of life for students with disabilities. Relate this statement back to your concentration area.

Special Education Doctoral Degree Statement of Goals:
Explain your interest in one of doctoral study emphasis areas (university professor, school instruction and leadership, or higher education and community support). Explain why you want to obtain a Doctoral Degree in Special Education and why this degree will help you attain your professional goals. Discuss what you have done that demonstrates your passion to improve special education practices and the quality of life for students with disabilities. Discuss aspects of your application packet that you would like the admission committee to know more about. Indicate if you will be a part-time student and hold outside full-time employment, or if will you be a full-time student and not hold another full-time job. Research shows that one of the strongest predictors of successfully completing a doctoral degree is to be a full-time doctoral student. Discuss your status and its implication on your full or part-time student status.
