FULL ADMISSION CHECKLIST

I. Students seeking full admission to a teacher education program must meet the following criteria:
·         30 hours minimum from an accredited institution of higher learning;
·         2.50 grade point average (OU retention);
·         2.50 grade point average (COMB retention).
 
II. Students must have 24 hours in the following courses with a “C” or better:
·         ENGL 1113 - 3 hours              
·         P SC 1113 - 3 hours
·         ENGL 1213 - 3 hours              
·         BIO/PHYS SCI - 3 hours
·         MATH 1473/1523 - 3 hours
·         SOC/PSY/ANTH - 3 hours
·         HIST 1483/1493 - 3 hours
·         ENGL/PHIL/A HI/MUNM - 3 hours
 
III. Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) (minimum cut scores):

IV. Full Admission Essay:
 
            Full admission to a teacher education program requires the submission of an essay
            discussing the applicant’s desire to enter the teaching profession.  Information regarding
            previous experience working with children and qualities and attributes that will positively
            contribute to success in the teaching environment should also be included.  The essay
            should be approximately 750 words or three pages, typed and double spaced and should
            be submitted to the Student Services Center, ECH 137.  (Elementary Education majors
            should submit two copies.)
 

VI.  Full Admission Interview

 

                An interview is required for admission into the teacher education program in this department. Interviews for summer and fall admissions are held in April.
