The purpose of the master's program
in social studies education is to advance student understanding in social
studies teaching and content in elementary and secondary education.

studies advisor, the student may select course work from the social sciences
or humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences or related education
courses. It is expected that the course work throughout the program
will provide the student with the necessary foundations to complete a masters
level thesis or project.

areas such as developmental theory, learning theory, educational psychology,
and curriculum and research.
Content Areas
In consultation with the social
studies advisor and committee, the student will select course work from
the social sciences or humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences.
