JRCoE iPad One University Digital Initiative

With a growing number of iPad programs in K12 settings, new productivity and engagement opportunities, and new content being developed in iTunes U, students have more ways than ever to utilize technology and enhance their classroom experiences – both as students and teachers.

At the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education (JRCoE), we want our students to be able to lead a classroom using all of the resources available. We want future employers to know that OU Education graduates don’t just take technology in the classroom as an elective, but that it’s integrated into the curriculum.

The university is providing fourth generation iPads with retina displays toundergraduate students who are fully admitted to the JRCoE. Our goal is to transform students’ learning experience at OU and prepare them to incorporate technology in their future classrooms. Upon graduation, students will be allowed to keep the iPad to use as professional educators.

JRCoE faculty members received iPads earlier this fall and are incorporating them into their spring teaching and lesson plans, focusing on how the devices are being used in K-12 education.

The pilot project is part of OU’s One University digital initiative, which integrates technology and creates digital content to enhance the learning experience.
