Derek A. Houston is an Assistant Professor of Adult and Higher Education in the emphasis area of Intercollegiate Athletics Administration at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Houston earned his doctorate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Utilizing multi-level modeling and quasi-experimental design techniques applied to secondary data, his dissertation focused generally on understanding how differential public-school contexts may influence post-secondary readiness, entrance, and matriculation. Dr. Houston’s areas of specialization and interest include quantitative methods, equity in intercollegiate athletics, equity and access relative to the P-20 educational pipeline, education finance policy, and sociology of education.
