For the third successive year, the Institute for International Mediation and Conflict Resolution (IIMCR) has developed an interdisciplinary course grounded in theory, substance and hands-on simulations. The symposium draws heavily of the tools of conflict resolution as taught by scholars and trainers and on the real-world experiences of current and former government officials. By interpreting current and past conflicts in the region through the prism of conflict resolution, international affairs, and international law, participants develop an academic framework within which to apply the practical skills of mediation and negotiation. ELIGIBILITY - The program runs from June 11 until July 7, 2006. Applicants who demonstrate a strong desire to effect positive change, have maintained a record of academic excellence, and have an interest in conflict resolution will be considered for admission. Applicants must also demonstrate an excellent command of the English language. Up to 100 applicants will be selected for admission. Students are typically between 20 and 35 years old. IIMCR seeks to ensure a diverse and multicultural student body. The program cost is $4,500. This includes full tuition, room and board, instruction, and academic materials. Airfare is not included. Applications completed prior to March 10, 2006 receive a $500 tuition reduction. Please visit HYPERLINK "http://www.iimcr.org" www.iimcr.org for information and application materials.
