Assignment for GEOG 1213

Consider the three theories of urban form described in your textbook and the outside readings: (1) concentric rings, (2) sector, and (3) multiple nuclei (spread) cities. Draw a map of your home town (or one nearby) which shows how these theories might be useful to explain the urban morphology (geographical form of that city). Do not select first order places. You may use a county seat if it has a population of 5,000 people. Use third, fourth, or fifth order places if you wish. You may use world cities (6-7 order) if you have enough knowledge of that city or metropolitan area. You may wish to consult a map or atlas for this assignment, but it may not be required.

This assignment is due on Monday, 27 October. It will be worth a maximum of 10 points.

Update: A copy of your text, Economic Geography, 2nd Edition, has been placed on 2-hour reserve at Bizzell Library.
