Aquatics is a lifelong activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you enjoy swimming laps, playing around in the water, water aerobics classes, or swim lessons, water is a great way to increase your health and lifelong well being.

Murray Case Sells Swim Complex

The Murray Case Sells Swim Complex consists of an indoor and outdoor pool. The indoor pool is an eight lane 25 yard lap pool with a 13 foot diving well with one 1-meter springboard. The outdoor facility consists of an Olympic size pool 50 meters by 25 yards with a 13 foot diving well and two 1-meter spring boards. The outdoor lap pool ranges in depths from 3’6” to 5’6” and the diving well ranges from 9’ to 13’. The indoor lap pool ranges from 4’ to 5’6” deep and the indoor diving well ranges from 9’ to 13’.

The Murray Case Sells Swim Complex offers many programs and classes for the OU, Norman, and surrounding communities. Some of the programs offered are summer group swim lessons for children and adults in our outdoor facility, Aqua Zumba® classes, shallow and deep water aerobics classes, birthday parties, private swim lessons, American Red Cross certification classes for lifeguards and water safety instructors® (swim lesson instructors), swim stroke clinics and private adult group classes.

The indoor complex opened in the fall of 1973 and the outdoor complex opened in the summer of 1975. Once opened the Murray Case Sells Swim Complex was home to both a men’s and women’s NCAA Division I collegiate swim teams. The men’s program ran from 1973 to 1986 and the women’s program ran from 1975 to 1986. After the college teams were dropped the Murray Case Sells Swim Complex became the exclusive and current home of Norman High School, Norman North High School, and Sooner Swim Club swim teams.

Aquatics Parking

OU Parking Services

Parking at the Murray Case Sells Swim Complex may be acquired using one of the following methods: 

  • Faculty/staff must display a valid OU Faculty/Staff Parking permit along with a pool permit in the pool parking area. 
  • Student parking is located in nearby lots with their applicable parking permit.
  • Faculty, staff, students, and visitors who do not hold a parking permit may pay for parking, as needed conveniently, at the kiosk at the pool’s entrance.
  • Visitors may pay the parking meter in front of the pool. Please note this meter is only eligible for spots directly in front of the facility. 
  • Visitors may go to the OU Parking Services Office (Jenkins Parking Garage, 1332 Jenkins Ave.) to purchase parking passes. 
  • Visitors who are enrolled in Group Swim Lessons for Summer will receive a parking pass for the facility. 
  • Visitors who hold an active membership at the Murray Case Sells Swim Complex will need to display their parking permit provided at time of membership setup on their car’s dash.

Water Aerobics

Tired of doing laps?  Water aerobics is a great way to get aquatic exercise and have some fun!

Shallow/Deep Water Aerobics

Gentle Yoga

· An introductory class great for beginners, or those with joint pain or mobility issues.

· Improves core strength, posture, balance, joint mobility, stamina, etc.

Deep Water

• This class will incorporate cardio, strength, and core through circuits and interval training for a total body workout.  Equipment such as gloves, dumbbells, and noodles may be incorporated.  Good for all fitness and experience levels.

Shallow Water

• Experience a total body workout that is never the same. Continuous movement sessions using a variety of equipment will be utilized to challenge the body and mind. Good for all fitness and experience levels.

Pool Policies

  • All rules regarding health, safety, and sanitation of this facility must be observed or use of the swim complex will be denied.
  • Lifeguards must be on duty prior to entering the water.
  • The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Healthy Swimming Guidelines include restrictions for those who have had diarrhea in the last two weeks. Those individuals may not use the pool for two weeks after symptoms have subsided.
  • Soap showers are recommended before entering the pool.
  • Swim suits are required – appropriate coverings are required. Please help us maintain a family friendly environment.
  • Individuals with open wounds, sores, and skin infections are not permitted in the pool.
  • Swim diapers are required for children who are not toilet savvy.
  • Reserve diaper changing for the locker rooms.
  • All minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or over.
  • Alcohol, drugs, and tobacco are not allowed on the premises.
  • Anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to enter.
  • No glass allowed
  • No pets allowed
  • No gum or bandages in the pool
  • No food or drink in or near the pool - only in designated areas.
  • No jumping over pool corners
  • No running on the deck
  • No spitting in the gutter
  • No extended underwater swimming
  • In the event of thunder and/or lightning, the staff will evacuate the pool area (showers included) and determine when it is safe to resume activities.
  • If the outdoor pool temperature falls below 75°F, the pool will close until further notice. 
  • Lifeguards must be on duty prior to entering the water.
  • Equipment is reserved for lap swimmers only.
  • No walking in fins No hanging or sitting on the lane ropes
  • No extended underwater swimming
  • No more than 5 people per lane; more than 2 people per lane requires circle swimming
  • Lanes must be shared Recreational swimming is not allowed in lap lanes (outdoor pool).
  • Lanes can be reserved at any time by OU Aquatics staff. 
  • Lifeguard must be on duty prior to entering the water.
  • Equipment is reserved for lap swimmers only.
  • A swim test may be required upon request of a lifeguard.
  • No throwing others or diving from another person’s shoulders.
  • No dunking, wrestling, or horseplay
  • No diving from the sides
  • No hanging or sitting on the lane ropes
  • No jumping into or through rafts from the pool wall
  • No extended underwater swimming
  • Rafts are allowed only in designated areas; one person per raft; no jumping onto rafts or floats from the wall; rafts that obstruct a field of view are prohibited.
  • An adult must be in the water with children wearing flotation devices. 
  • Lifeguard must be on duty prior to entering the water.
  • One person on the board at a time
  • Flotation devices, goggles, and face masks are not allowed on the board
  • No double bouncing, handstands, reverse dives, gainers, or sitting on the board
  • No horseplay on the boards
  • No running on or jumping from the side of the board
  • No diving from the pool walls
  • No swimming in the diving area unless accompanied by an OU Aquatics Instructor a FIT class or explicit permission from aquatics staff.
  • Lifeguard must be on duty prior to entering the water.
  • An adult must accompany children in the baby pool.
  • No running in the water or on the deck
  • No spitting water
  • No jumping from the wall into the water or onto a raft or float
  • No children over the age of 7 or over 40” tall are allowed in the baby pool unless accompanied by a parent
  • Diaper changing must occur in the locker rooms.
  • Swim diapers are required for children who are not toilet savvy.
  • If the baby pool temperature falls below 82°F, the baby pool will close until further notice.
  • Throw trash away.
  • Turn off sinks and showers when not in use.
  • No horseplay
  • Please use benches and lockers for your personal belongings.
  • In the event of thunder and/or lightning, the staff will determine when it is safe to resume activities.
