Undergraduate applicants must submit an undergraduate application to the University of Oklahoma. An audition at one of the two audition dates offered by the School of Dance is also required.
Graduate applicants must submit a graduate application to the University of Oklahoma and submit a graduate placement application, a resume, a video containing a personal performance as well as their choreography and three recommendations to the School of Dance. An audition and interview will be scheduled following graduate faculty review of the video and application materials.
We offer highly competitive graduate fellowships and assistantships, including tuition remission and a stipend. For more information please contact Graduate Liason Jeremy Lindberg at email@example.com, or call the School of Dance.
Undergraduate auditions will take place on October 8, 2012, and January 26, 2013. In order to reserve a space at the audition, you must contact the School of Dance at 405-325-4051 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Attire for the ballet audition is a black leotard, pink tights and ballet slippers and pointe shoes for women. Men are to wear a white T-shirt, black tights and black ballet shoes or white ballet shoes with white socks. Attire for the modern audition is either a footless black unitard or a black leotard and footless black tights. Hair must be secured off the face and neck for both auditions. Each student must provide a full-length photo in dancewear at the time of the audition.
The ballet audition will consist of a technique class with pointe and men's work. The modern dance audition will also consist of a technique class. Only students auditioning for admission as a modern dance major must also provide a DVD of a brief solo to be reviewed by the faculty. After the audition, faculty members will be available to answer questions from parents and prospective students.
If you wish to apply for a scholarship from the School of Dance, you may apply for the scholarship after you have been admitted to the University of Oklahoma. Further information can be found here.
Several graduate assistantships are available. The assistantships involve teaching classes for non majors or assisting faculty and they include tuition waivers, health insurance and a monthly stipend. To apply, please complete the application for graduate assistantship and return to the School of Dance.
Graduate admission recommendations must be made on the prescribed form and returned to the School of Dance. If you are an applicant, you can print out the form, fill in your name and send the form to your references or direct them to this page.
