Oklahoma Festival Ballet
September 20-29, 2013

Oklahoma Festival Ballet will present a mixed repertoire production of rich variety including an exotic suite of dances from the opera Lakme with choreography by Jeremy Lindberg, the premier of an abstract ballet by new faculty member Ilya Kozadayev to the music of Vivaldi, Clara Cravey Stanley's exciting classical choreography of the pas de deux from the ballet Sylvia, and two ballets choreographed by Mary Margaret Holt, Le Mistral, a ballet inspired by the winds that sweep over France from the Rhone valley, and La Chanteuse de Paris, danced to the music of Edith Piaf.

Exciting, athletic, original choreography including Tears for Maria, choreographed by Austin Hartel with music by Metallica and Apocalyptica, and Radar, choreographed by Derrick Minter, which explores intricate and complex partnering with a series of theatrical tableaus danced to a score by Philip Glass, and in collaboration with sculptor Sohail Shehada.

Enjoy a special summer evening with dance performances by Oklahoma Festival Ballet and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma, with brand new choreography by Mary Margaret Holt, Austin Hartel and Ilya Kozadayev. Following each performance, join the dancers and choreographers for a champagne and dessert reception.
Holt has choreographed a new ballet, Sonic Portraits #1, to music by David Ikard, a doctoral student in the School of Music. Kozadayev will debut a contemporary ballet and also stage Pas de Six from La Vivandiere. Hartel will present Vastus Sylva and Brodie's Introspection, which originally premiered in 2006.

Intensive classes in ballet and modern dance offered as a supplement for serious young dancers ages 10-18. SummerWind Youth Ballet Intensive 2014
June 15-28, 2014 - held on the OU campus in Norman
The OU School of Dance hosts SummerWind Youth Ballet, a two-week training program for dance students ages 11-14 and 15-18 years old. Curriculum includes a variety of dance classes and seminars taught by School of Dance faculty and guest artists. This comprehensive ballet program is aimed at educating the complete young dancer and concludes with an on-stage performance featuring class technique and rehearsed repertoire.
