Rebecca Ratliff
A native of Olympia, Washington, Rebecca Ratliff began her dance education in the Seattle area and continued her training with Dr. Arnold Spohr, Sallyann Mulcahy, Magali Messac, Maggie Black, and the schools of Oregon Ballet Theatre, Cleveland Ballet and the University of Utah.
Ratliff danced professionally with Kentucky Ballet Theatre, Lexington Ballet, Ballet Theatre of Chicago, Milwaukee Ballet, and as a principal dancer with Montana's Artisan Dance Company.
She has acquired a diverse repertoire including La Bayadere, Swan Lake, Les Sylphides, Napoli, and Sleeping Beauty, as well as contemporary roles in Balanchine’s Serenade and Michael Smuin’s The Tempest.
Ratliff is also an accomplished dance educator in having taught in Washington, Kentucky, Montana, Texas, and Oklahoma. While dancing in Kentucky, she worked with the Louisville based non-profit educational outreach organization New Performing Arts, Inc. as program and administrative coordinator. She also developed two dance programs at NPA which introduced over 60,000 Kentucky students to live ballet in their schools.
Ratliff joined the OU School of Dance faculty in 2005. She teaches ballet, pointe class, stage make-up and serves as rehearsal assistant with Oklahoma Festival Ballet – helping coach Rodeo and the dream ballet from Oklahoma! for the 2006-2007 season.
Ratliff is also coordinator of the School of Dance Saturday Youth Class program held during the fall semester, as well as coordinator of SummerWind Youth Ballet Camp – a two-week intensive summer training program hosted by the School of Dance for dance students ages 11-18 years old.
