MFA Production Defenses
Following the closing of an MFA directing project, an oral defense of the production will be scheduled. At this meeting with the members of the Performance and Design/Tech faculty, the MFA Directing student will present a 5-minute statement explaining their goals for the production and assessing its strengths and weaknesses. This is followed with questions from the faculty designed to provoke self-evaluative thought and discussion. At the end of the hour, the faculty will vote on whether the student's work on the project was satisfactory or unsatisfactory, although occasionally a student may be passed provisionally. In the latter case, the faculty makes a recommendation to the student for further development.
All oral defenses are open to the faculty and student body; graduate directing students are encouraged to attend those of their peers.
