The Mop
(for Dance Productions)
The mop is necessary to maintain the safety and cleanliness of the dancers.
The mop will follow these steps everyday:
- With clean (thoroughly shaken) dust mops, mop the ENTIRE stage area. Simultaneously, the ENTIRE backstage and apron area will be thoroughly swept.
- The backstage area is dust mopped while the wet mops are being rinsed until clean (very little or no dirt in the water).
- The ENTIRE dance floor and apron is wet mopped with clean mops and clean water. The mops are rinsed frequently in clean water. For the water to be clean it must be changed frequently. Then, damp mop the entire backstage.
- Clean up and put everything away (mops hung to dry, buckets rinsed and stored, hose emptied and hung up, dust mops shaken, and debris swept up, etc.).
- If the mop is properly executed the dancers will be happy, the choreographers will be happy, the costume and lighting designers will be happy, and the stage manager and the TD will be ecstatic because everyone else is happy, happy, happy!!!
