Student Choral Ensembles
With six choral ensembles performing during the academic year, each student at the University of Oklahoma has ample opportunity to hear and perform a wide variety of choral literature. All choirs are open to students from all academic disciplines by audition.
University Chorale— The University Chorale is a distinguished graduate level ensemble. The Chorale often performs with orchestra and presents a wide variety of music. In addition, the Chorale combines with other university choral ensembles to perform major orchestral/choral works.
University Choir— The University Choir is a select vocal ensemble drawn primarily from the undergraduate student body. The University choir presents a minimum of two formal concerts each semester and combines with other university ensembles to perform major works.
University Chamber Ensemble— The Chamber Ensemble is an eighteen voice group comprised of members selected from the University Choir. This group specializes in performing music for small choirs and presents concerts both on and off campus.
University Chorus— The University Chorus is a mixed ensemble which performs at least one formal concert each semester and also combines with other university ensembles to present larger choral/orchestral works.
Collegium Musicum— The Collegium Musicum is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students and specializes in the performance of early music.
Opera— One opera is produced each semester plus a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta during the fall or summer. Roles are open to all university students and are double cast for four to six public performances. While audition requirements may vary depending on the production needs, they generally consist of an aria or song (preferably in English) and a reading.
