Degrees
The University of Oklahoma School of Music offers courses leading to degrees ranging from bachelors through doctoral. The Bachelor of Music in performance degree (composition, organ, piano, piano pedagogy, voice, strings, percussion, woodwind, and brass instruments) and the Bachelor of Music Education degree with instrumental or vocal emphasis are both offered. The Bachelor of Musical Arts degree allows students to pursue a secondary area such as business or pre-med in addition to music. A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in music is also offered.
In cooperation with the University Graduate College, the degrees Master of Music is offered in music history, theory, piano pedagogy, composition, and applied music. Also the Master of Music Education is offered with concentration in conducting, Kodaly methodology, piano pedagogy, and secondary instruments. Doctoral degrees are offered in music education (Ph.D. in music education) and in performance, composition, piano pedagogy, and conducting (Doctoral of Musical Arts).
