Scholarships
Undergraduate scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis at the entrance audition. Scholarship auditions for the following academic year should be completed by March 15, preferably on an “audition day.” Assistance for those auditioning after March 15 will be awarded on a “funds available” basis only. To ensure the best chance for full scholarship consideration audition on or before this date. Scholarships for non-music majors are limited and do not carry the same stipends as those for music majors. Additional sources of financial aid are available through the Financial Aid Office.
Scholarship Terms:
- Recipient must be enrolled as full time student (min. 12 hours per semester, min. of 6 hours must be MU prefix) to receive the award.
- Recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average throughout their undergraduate career in order to retain award waivers and monies.
- Recipient must fulfill all responsibilities as a student, studio member, and ensemble member in a satisfactory manner to retain award.
- Recipient must participate in one or more appropriate major ensembles each semester as required by the applied studio or degree program, and
- Recipient must make timely and successful progress toward the completion of a music degree. BM degrees are normally completed in 8 semesters. In extraordinary circumstances, or in the case of BMA or BME degrees the award may be renewed for up to 10 semesters (with the approval of the applied faculty and Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies).
