Student Body

The School of Music is comprised of approximately 250 undergraduate majors and 160 graduate students.  Students enroll from communities in Oklahoma and from numerous states throughout the U.S. as well as countries from around the world including Korea, China, Hong Kong, Great Britain, Germany, and Malaysia. The University of Oklahoma annually attracts record numbers of National Merit Scholars including a substantial number of music majors.

Many current and former University of Oklahoma students are members of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra. The School of Music has over seventeen student performing ensembles that perform and tour on a regular basis.  OU Music Students are consistently named winners of prestigious competitions and numerous performing and scholastic awards.  Performers from the OU School of Music are participants of various summer music festivals around the country and world, such as Aspen, Brevard, Tanglewood, and Roundtop. A significant number of music students have been named National Merit Scholars, Regents’ Scholars, and National Achievement Scholars, and many participate in the Honors Program.
