Professor Robert Dohrmann received his BA in Art with an emphasis in painting in 1989 and his MFA in Painting and Drawing in 1992 at Central Washington University, Ellensburg, Washington. He has teaching experience at California State University-Chico, CA as a Visiting Artist and at Yakima Valley Community College, Grandview, WA as a Lecturer. After two years at Central Washington University serving as a full-time replacement instructor teaching all levels of graduate and undergraduate painting, drawing and illustration, he took a position in our department in 1999 in the Foundations area. Over the years he has taught a variety of Studio courses, but currently the bulk of his teaching duties include Core I (Surface, 2D), Core III (Technology, Time), second semester drawing, studio specific digital art classes, and an online comic book theory course.
Prof. Dohrmann turned his research interests to digital media in 2001. His most recent body of works includes experimental video shorts, audio mash-up's, and nonlinear interactive web based media. The majority of these works are conceptually rooted in digital mash-up and RE/Mix strategies. He has had several solo exhibitions throughout the US and has participated in numerous international film festivals over the past several years.
