Stuart Asprey is a ceramic artist and assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma, he accidently discovered his love for clay after wandering into the wrong classroom in college. He went on to receive his BA in studio art from Humboldt State University (1999) in California and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma (2002). Since receiving his MFA he has won numerous awards and been in over 60 invitational, juried national and international exhibitions. His work is a combination of two-dimensional imagery on three-dimensional porcelain vessels and explores one of the most underrated industries produced and perfected in this country, the business of popular culture. He taught full-time and headed the ceramics/3D program at Oklahoma City University and was a finalist for the campus wide Professor of the Year before heading down the road to join the faculty at OU.
