	Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec France, 1864-1901 Portrait of a Girl Oil on canvas 10 1/2 x 8 1/4 in. The Aaron M. and Clara Weitzenhoffer Collection, 2000

In 1892, Toulouse-Lautrec received a commission to decorate a brothel in Paris on the rue d’Amboise. For that project, he painted imitations of eighteenth-century paneling that was inset with eighteen medallion-shaped portraits, many in profile, of the prostitutes available on the premises. The present painting is one of those portraits.
