Programs for University Students

Museum admission is always free to students with a valid OU student ID.

New to OU? Or just curious about art? The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art offers a variety of programs for OU students, whether you are looking for a new idea for date night, a quick lesson in art appreciation, or just something different to do with friends! Walk through the collection, catch a movie, attend a lecture - all at no cost to you!

Permanent Collection and Special Exhibits

The permanent collection at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art boasts many jewels - including the Weitzenhoffer Collection of French Impressionism, one of the most important gifts of French Impressionism ever given to a University. The museum also has extensive holdings of American, American Indian, and Asian art, photography, Eastern Orthodox icons, and Persian miniatures, as well as strong collections of modern and contemporary art. The museum’s collection of southwestern art, including works by the Taos Society of Artists, is among the most important in any public museum. Special exhibits rotate throughout the year; click here for more information.

Museum galleries are open Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm; Thursday, 10am - 9pm; Sundays, 1-5pm. Closed Mondays and university holidays.

Guided Class Tours

The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art encourages all members of the University community to utilize museum programming and services to enhance the classroom experience. Docent-led tours are available for all classes at the University of Oklahoma as well as self-guided tours. To schedule your docent-led tour or to notify us of your upcoming self-guided tour, click here. All OU student group visits, including faculty and instructors, are free of charge.

Weitzenhoffer Hosts

The museum has a wonderful opportunity for students to gain museum experience by volunteering as hosts for the Weitzenhoffer galleries of Impressionist art.  After a brief training process, students are stationed in the Weitzenhoffer galleries, which have been designed to evoke the Weitzenhoffer's home, to provide visitors with information. For more information, please call the Curator of Education at (405) 325-3270 or email volunteers@ou.edu . No experience necessary.
