Volunteer Opportunities

Docents

The museum has a corps of over 60 volunteer docents who give tours to school groups and the public.   Docents are specially trained in art history, touring techniques, and visitor learning styles.   The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art docent council was the recipient of an Oklahoma Museums Association certificate of recognition in 2001 and 2005.   The next class for new docents will begin in August 2006.   For more information on joining the docent council, please call the Curator of Education at (405) 325-3270 or email museumvolunteers@ou.edu .

Weitzenhoffer Hosts

The museum seeks volunteers to work in the Weitzenhoffer Collection of French Impressionism.   After a brief training process, volunteers are stationed in the galleries to answer questions and provide visitors with information about the Weitzenhoffer Collection.
