University Printmakers in Oklahoma
November 16 — 26
Prints in various media by artist teaching in the major Universities of Oklahoma from this exhibition initiated by the Museum of Art. University printmakers in Oklahoma have gained wide recognition nationally and internationally for graphics ranging in styles for the traditional to the experimental.
Opening concurrently is an exhibition of Ramon-Buddhist sculpture. These ancient sculptures from the Kingdom of Texila in India are principally of Gandhara types. Dr. Henry S. Robinson, Director of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Greece, recently completed restoration and cataloguing of these works. Dr. Robinson was formerly Professor of Classics and Associate Dean of the Graduate College at the University of Oklahoma. The sculpture, part of the Wentz-Matzene collection of Oriental art, is in the permanent collection of the Museum.
