An exhibition of archival photographs from the Dance Collection of the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center documenting the History of Modern Dance from 1896 to the present. Included are early innovators Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Diaghilev, Ruth St. Dennis, Pavlova, and Nijinsky. Also included are the Bauhaus Theatre in Germany, the Ballet Suedois with Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Picabia and Satie, George Balanchine, Hanya Holm, Doris Humphrey, Ted Shawn, Aaron Copland, Martha Graham, Eric Hawkins an Isamu Noguchi, Merce Cunningham, Twyla Tharp, Sol Lewitt, Fats Waller and Norman Dello Joio. The exhibition is circulated by the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis and is co-sponsored by the Department of Dance, School of Drama and the Museum of Art.
